Time for Snails and Painting Whales
This is where my years of creating for children and families began: simple, joyful ideas for learning and playing together at home.
From the mountains to the sea
I live in the California Sierra Nevada mountains, where hawks circle overhead, large antlered buck rest in my yard, and crazy wild turkeys make us laugh. I’ve always been drawn to the natural world, from tide pools on the Monterey coast to the wildlife all around me, and that curiosity finds its way into nearly everything I write.
My first book, Time for Snails and Painting Whales, gave parents simple, focused ways to enjoy time with their preschoolers, while affirming their child’s self-worth. Today I write picture books that celebrate the real wonders of nature, with a little humor and a lot of heart.
Let’s talk stories.
